In Greek and Roman mythology, a daemon is an entity somewhere between a god and a human. While Christianity has characterized them as evil beings, they were originally neither good nor evil. They were just another part of the natural order.
In more modern times, the term "daemon" refers to background processes that occur within a computer. They, too, are just part of the order of things.
This was my inspiration for Daemon Catalogue: 31 daemons as shadowy, supernatural personifications of concepts, idioms, and everyday things. They aren't bad or good — they just are.
